Batala London is a samba-reggae drumming band based in London. We bring rhythm, colour and energy to festivals, parades, community events and celebrations across the city and beyond.
Our music is rooted in the Afro-Brazilian traditions of Salvador, Bahia, and is shared through participatory drumming and collective performance, open to people of all ages and backgrounds.
We’re part of the global Batala family, family of bands around the world who share the same spirit and musical approach. The music is guided by our founder, Giba Gonçalves, whose arrangements and rhythms define the Batala sound.
