Notting Hill Carnival: 60 Years Filming

To mark the 60th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival, a photographer and content creator joined us at rehearsal to capture behind-the-scenes moments as we prepared for one of the biggest dates in the Batala calendar.

It was a relaxed but focused session, with the usual mix of rhythm, movement, laughter and concentration that comes with getting Carnival-ready. Being filmed in rehearsal gave a really nice glimpse into the work that happens away from the street — the build-up, the energy and the people behind the sound.

The footage has since been edited into a special piece celebrating the milestone anniversary, featuring Pilar and highlighting the spirit of Carnival each year.

A lovely moment to be part of and a great reminder of everything that goes into a performance, not just the performance itself.
