Batala London Joins 200+ Drummers at Notting Hill Carnival 2025

Updated: Sep 25

It’s been a little while since we last updated our blog, and what better moment to return than with thrilling news from this year’s Notting Hill Carnival?

Batala London at Notting Hill Carnival 2025

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Batala London joined forces with our extended family, Batala Mundo, to bring the vibrant, powerful sound of samba reggae to the streets of West London. More than 200 drummers from Batala groups all over the world came together to form one incredible bloco, filling the parade with rhythm, energy, and joy.

This year, we were awarded 3rd place in the Brazilian category – a wonderful recognition and a bonus we’re proud of – but what really matters is the energy we created together and the joy it brought to the crowd. Our aim is to share the music we love, to fill the streets with rhythm, and to celebrate community and culture with everyone who dances alongside us.

A big shout-out to:

  • Giba, the visionary leader of Batala Mundo, whose passion and guidance unites us all.

  • Farida, Batala Mundo’s brilliant choreographer, who kept our movements fierce, joyful, and unforgettable.

  • All the callers and behind-the-scenes volunteers, who worked tirelessly to keep everything flowing without a hitch.

  • And from right here in Batala London: heartfelt thanks to Pilar and Tessa, for teaching us the new songs and inspiring us to give our all at Carnival.

Carnival is a celebration of connection, community, and pure joy. Being part of something so powerful, surrounded by the thriving Batala Mundo drumming family and the diverse spirit of London, reminds us why we drum, why we unite, and why this music matters.

Thank you to everyone who cheered us on, danced alongside us, and captured those unforgettable moments. If you joined us on the parade route, you know just how loud, proud, and passionate Batala is!
