At Batala London we are always learning, not just as players but as a band and as a family.
Lorenzo arrived last Saturday and Bastian came earlier this year. Both travelled across Europe to lead rehearsals, share knowledge and sit with us. Lorenzo brought stick practice, a new tune and leadership in the band. Bastian showed us how to care for our drums, proper tuning to strong technique. This kind of sharing runs deep. Coming across Europe to support us, giving full focus and energy to help us grow together. We don't take that lightly. It means everything.
The room feels different each time. Everyone listening harder, playing tighter, feeling each other more. These visits sharpen our skills and deepen our understanding of the music. Everyone benefits.
Those moments when everything clicks? Something else. The groove deepens, energy lifts and you see it in every face. We all feel it together.
Both visits gave us time together away from rehearsal... social evenings, Brazilian food, laughter and good company after drumming.
Most of all we carry forward that deeper connection we build together.
