Batala London is part of an international group of Samba-Reggae bands. We were very excited to have formed Batala London in 2010. London is the 6th UK band and we would be ideal entertainment for any London event. The members are drawn from a huge variety of backgrounds, religion and races and we like to consider ourselves to be truly multicultural.
We perform at a wide variety of gigs from supporting a famous pop group (some players joined The Sugababes at the Royal Variety performance in 2007), launching a new range of sports car (Formula 1), TV shows (ITV 1 World Cup 2014 Brazil coverage opening match Brazil v Croatia (see photo above), BBC Sport’s opening night’s broadcast montage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (see videos page), Channel 4 Sunday Brunch- see videos page), music festivals, and major sporting events at venues such as Wembley (the first match in 2007, England v Brazil, the Community Shield and other sports events), the Women’s F.A. Cup Final, Chelsea FC and Twickenham and the Virgin London Marathon, the Skittles Colour Run, RBC Race for Kids, Ealing Festival, London Winter Run, Sports Relief at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and we appeared in. We also like to support smaller events like village fairs, parades, fun days and charities when we are able.
We play at Notting Hill Carnival (with nearly 200 drummers), the carnival in Brazil, or the annual Batala get-together, where all the Batala bands join up to play. Playing the music of Batala in a massed band of over 200 drummers simply cannot be beaten and the atmosphere the band creates is electric!
Winner of the Notting Hill carnival samba category in 2016 and the best Samba band Brazilian Press awards 2012!
We have recently released a CD. Please contact us if you wish to purchase a copy.
We have played at some of the biggest venues and festivals in the UK including:
We are available to play, as a small or medium size band, according to your preference, at festivals, carnivals, clubs, and events in general to bring a taste of Brazil to every occasion.
Let the fun begin!
